The
mode, or manner, in which a system vibrates tells a lot about how a system will respond to an excitation,
and how to handle a potentially damaging resonant frequency. A node is the point where a mode crosses the
abscissa: Mode 1 has one node, Mode 2 has two, etc.
A comprehensive analysis will consider all significant modes of vibration.
